Preparing to bake the German Christmas cake (Christstollen). Then it would be best if you mix your spices. It is certainly possible to buy ready-made seasoning, but it is just as quick to mix your own.
Christmas stollen has a long tradition in Germany; they bake it every Christmas. A tasty wheat dough with raisins and nuts, Christstollen is a very durable bread that needs to be baked a few weeks before Christmas – it needs to stand for about three weeks before you can enjoy it. It needs to mature.
The traditional spices include everything I write below except for two things, a grated peel of an orange and ground Seville orange. But I think these enhance the taste of the Christstollen. Feel free to try the spice in other cakes as well. All ingredients have to be ground.
