Shole Zard (Persian: Yellow pudding) or Persian Saffron Rice pudding is a wonderful snack or dessert made with rice, and the holy trinity of Persian flavors: the aromatic rosewater, cardamom and last but not the least Saffron. Even thinking about it makes me smile! 😊 Continue reading “Persian Saffron Rice Pudding – Shole Zard”
We have a fantastic rhubarb plant in our garden, we try to use it as much as we can during the summer. Rhubarb pie is absolutely a favorite during summer, easy and incredibly good. This pie has a Persian touch with cardamom and rose water, a fantastic combination I have to say. One can exclude it of course but be brave and dare a little! The pie also contains some nuts that can be excluded if you are allergic. I found the basic recipe online many years ago but can’t find it back now. What I have added is cardamom, rose water and nuts. Continue reading “Rhubarb Pie”
I was watching MasterChef Australia and was inspired to make Roti Jala as one of the participants did, but of course with a Persian touch! To begin with, one might wonder what Roti Jala is. Continue reading “Persian inspired Roti Jala! Lace pancake!”
You might find this odd but the Swedes eat different kind of fruit purées, (i.e. strawberry) together with milk as a snack or a light lunch during summer time. I think you call it “Fool”.
I definitely found it odd when I had it for the first time in 1966 – I considered it to be a dessert! But now after 53 years in Sweden, I just love it especially when we have a very hot summer day and I am not very hungry, it is indeed very refreshing. Love to make ice cream as soon as spring approaches! This ice-cream or gelato is both delicious and beautiful! I buy Swedish blueberries from the freezer section; they have the best taste in my opinion before we get fresh Swedish blueberries. Frozen blueberries cost half as much as fresh blueberries right now in Sweden. Continue reading “Blueberry ice-cream or gelato!”
So easy and delicious! Persian sour plums converted into the most delicious dessert!
You have most probably seen this wonderful fruit at oriental grocery stores, not knowing what to do with them. I do not blame you. Continue reading “Persian plum compote (kompote Goje Sabz)”
The absolutely most wonderful strawberry syrup for the ice cream of your choice! I just love strawberries and nowadays one can find fresh strawberries in the store already in March, but the price is rather high if you want to use it for a sauce or syrup – that is why I chose to use frozen berries for the syrup. Continue reading “Strawberry Sauce”
The best ice-cream ever!
Planning to visit our oldest son with family this weekend and I decided to make an ice-cream bomb, with flavors that I know they like. Since my daughter-in-law is allergic to Pome fruits, I decided to make coconut ice cream that I have blogged about before, combined with strawberry ice cream (or sorbet) and ginger ice cream. Continue reading “Strawberry ice-cream or sorbet!”
